Build the confidence to keep your projects moving forward.

Practical project assessment, training and hands-on support for SMEs delivering important change without a full-time project management function.

When a project matters, you need a clear view of what’s really happening

Projects do not need to be failing before they need support. Sometimes the challenge is getting a new project off to a good start. Sometimes priorities, responsibilities or plans need tightening. And sometimes a project is already causing concern. Whatever the stage, the first step is understanding where things really stand and what needs to happen next.

  • The project is starting without a clear scope, plan or ownership.

  • Nobody can clearly explain what success looks like.

  • Important decisions keep being delayed.

  • Reports show activity but don’t give confidence.

  • Milestones keep moving without the underlying problems being resolved.

  • Capable people are running projects without enough structure or support.

  • The organisation needs more project delivery capability than it currently has.

If any of these sound familiar, I can help you work out what is happening and what to do next.

Why No Fluff?

No Fluff Project Management is about using enough structure to get a project under control and moving forward — without unnecessary jargon, paperwork or heavyweight methodology. It is designed for SMEs and organisations that need practical project support, but do not need a large project management function.

How do I know where my project really stands?

The No Fluff Project Assessment examines the evidence behind a project. It gives leaders a clearer view of the conditions affecting delivery and builds confidence to keep the project moving forward.

Assess

No Fluff Project Management training helps project managers, coordinators, team leaders and people managing projects alongside their normal jobs build practical delivery skills.

Develop

Strengthen the people delivering change

Support can range from a focused assessment or review through to short-term hands-on delivery support, depending on what the project needs.

Deliver

Add experienced support where it matters

For SMEs that need to deliver important projects without a large project management teambility

Pinestar works with owners, managers and delivery teams who need greater clarity, stronger project control or experienced support.

SME owners and managing directors

Leaders who need a reliable view of an important project but cannot spend every day managing it.

Accidental and inexperienced project managers

Capable people who have been asked to lead a project without enough training, structure or practical support.

Operations managers

People responsible for keeping the organisation running while also delivering systems, process changes or other major improvements.

Project coordinators

People responsible for actions, information, reporting and keeping the delivery team organised.

Business-change and implementation leaders

People coordinating internal teams, suppliers and senior stakeholders through an important change.

Businesses needing
short-term project support

Businesses that need experienced project support for a period of time without recruiting a permanent project manager.

Typical projects include new systems, operational change, business growth, product launches, process improvements, customer delivery, equipment, relocation and infrastructure-related work.

The common issue is not a lack of effort. It is the need for greater clarity, stronger control and practical support.

35+ years of real project delivery experience.
No unnecessary theory.

Pinestar is led by Ian Wainwright, a project leader, consultant and trainer with more than 35 years of experience delivering complex projects and change.

Ian has worked across public and private-sector organisations, leading technology, infrastructure, operational and business-change projects. His experience includes major programmes for organisations such as Network Rail, Telent, Viridor and National Express, as well as two programmes that helped enable the introduction of 4G across the UK.

The No Fluff approach is built from that delivery experience. It focuses on clear outcomes, realistic plans, visible ownership, useful reporting, early warning signals and decisions that lead to action.

“Ian skilfully led his project team, built relationships with all                stakeholders and ensured what was a difficult implementation            went smoothly.”

Building project delivery capability in North Wales

North Wales is entering a period of significant investment across energy, infrastructure and industry.

That creates an opportunity for local businesses and people to play a bigger role in delivering that work — but only if the right project delivery capability is developed alongside it.

Pinestar is exploring practical ways to help SMEs, delivery organisations and training partners strengthen project delivery capability across the region.

If this is relevant to your organisation, register your interest and I’ll keep you informed as the work develops.

What does your project need next?

You may need a clearer view of a struggling project, stronger capability within your team or experienced support to help deliver an important change.

Start with a straightforward conversation about what is happening and what support would be useful.
