Ian Wainwright in North Wales countryside

My goal is to help local businesses achieve great things.

Running a business is thrilling but not without pitfalls.

I’ve seen promising projects fail. Why?

A lack of skills and resources.

And when projects are business-critical, this approach damages business performance.

Things can be different.

Engage with me, and I’ll guide and advise your team. Whether you need help with a bid tender, project review or IT system upgrade, I’ll get your projects in motion.

Experience

I’m Ian Wainwright. During my 35-year career I’ve successfully managed the delivery of a wide range of complex business and IT projects for government and private and public sector organisations, including Telent, Network Rail, Viridor and National Express.  I also played a major role in introducing the 4G network across the UK.

In the 90s and early 00s I guided businesses through the outsourcing boom, where I gained experience on both sides of the tendering process.

From managing diverse teams and major contracts to leading project reviews and setting up new procurement, customer service and finance systems, it’s safe to say I’ve earned my stripes!

Returning to my roots

After living in London and the South East for most of my working life, I recently returned to my birthplace, North Wales, and I'm enjoying every minute.

Supporting small businesses and startups in my local area is important. That’s why I’m a volunteer business mentor for Business Wales and a Young Chamber sponsor which helps develop the skills of school and college pupils.

Living in Mold, I make the most of the Welsh landscape by exploring the countryside and playing walking football for my local team.

WHY I’M THE IDEAL PROJECT MANAGER FOR YOUR BUSINESS

A project manager who guides rather than tells

Call me what you want: business advisor, freelance project lead, hands-on business mentor – just not management consultant.

I’m all about trust

I don't underestimate the role of those water cooler moments with colleagues; building rapport and gaining trust is vital in everything I do.

Long or short-term partnerships

As a long-term advisor or someone to quickly turn around projects, I’ll work with you for however long you need.

35 years of diverse experience

Whether it’s working with government, public bodies or private enterprise, I’ve been there. I’m no spring chicken; I know my stuff.

I’ve seen all sides of the coin

Project management roles in supplier, tender and implementation mean I understand different challenges and see the bigger picture.
